  2.             MIDI Time Code Accessory

  4. In response to the difficulties that some people have been encountering
  5. with Bars&Pipes Professional's MIDI Time Code synchronization, we've
  6. written an Accessory that behaves much more reliably and comes with
  7. a few extra capabilities.  Called MTC, it plugs into existing copies
  8. of Bars&Pipes Professional, requiring no update of the program itself.
  9. It does, however, require an update of the MIDI In Tool, which we've
  10. also included.

  12. Both the MTC Accessory and new MIDI In Tool are freely distributable,
  13. as long as you include this ReadMe file.

  16. INSTALLATION

  18. Copy MTC.paccess into you Accessories drawer.  Likewise, copy
  19. MIDI In.ptool into your Tools drawer.  Run Bars&Pipes Pro and open
  20. the Accessories window.  Select the Load command from the
  21. Accessories menu to install MTC in Bars&Pipes Professional.  
  22. You need not load the new MIDI In Tool, since it should have replaced
  23. your existing MIDI In Tool.  To be sure, open the MIDI In control
  24. window by double clicking on a MIDI In Tool and click on the
  25. right mouse button to reveal the menu bar.  It should say version 2.1
  26. or higher if it is the new Tool.

  29. OPERATION

  31. To synchronize with MIDI Time Code, leave the Source option in the
  32. Timer menu set to Internal.  Instead, double click on the MTC
  33. icon in the Accessories window to open its control window.  The
  34. control window shows a SMPTE display along with two control buttons.
  35. By default, the buttons are both on.  The Activate button enables MTC
  36. synchronization.  The Run Lock button maintains continuous
  37. synchronization, once Bars&Pipes Professional starts playback. 
  38. The SMPTE display shows the current SMPTE time coming in via MIDI.
  39. This is useful because it shows the time even when Bars&Pipes
  40. Professional is not running, so you can see where you are in your
  41. SMPTE stripe as well as whether MIDI Time Code is actively coming in.
